I often have the opportunity to work with businesspeople who visit Japan.
Through my interactions with them, I sometimes make fresh discoveries about Japanese culture and its unique characteristics 😊
One thing I’ve been noticing a lot recently is the presence of meishi, or business cards ✨
It seems that paper business cards are still commonly used in countries such as South Korea as well, but in many Western countries, there seems to be a strong sense that business cards are “a thing of the past.”
In Japan, however, exchanging business cards is still considered a natural part of meeting someone for the first time. There are also many subtle rules involved, such as presenting your card slightly lower than the other person’s…
It seems like it would be quite difficult to master 😅 but I find it a very fascinating part of Japanese culture ✨
